I have no inside knowledge, but here are two possibilities. On both accounts I know a bit more than the average person.
- He got bored or discouraged. See below.
- He might have been European, and got frightened at hosting 'hate speech' (I'm not sure of the timing of Mr Bond's example). This wouldn't be the first time that this happened.
Re: bored / discouraged:
- He had a 'normie', crypto page at https://www.cheekyvideos.net (note 'www') after https://cheekyvideos.net (plain) stopped responding. Now, different URLs on the same domain can point to different machines (and some old stats sites have him as having 2 IPs, so it's possible he loaned one out. That seems unlikely, though). To be clear, I think this means that Cheeky got tired of hosting the 'meme' part. So, why?
- He said on his twitter account, once, that he was upgrading his CDN (sort of a global cache system) to make downloads faster, and those cost money, typically $30+ / month.
- I think he lost interest in hosting 'meme' videos, except for Murdoch's - he hadn't updated anything but MM videos since cute alt-right women stopped being a thing (RageAfterStorm, Evalion, and Lauren Rose all disappeared). See his archive, there's nothing new but MM for probably years. I know from other experience that if you're not building or improving a website, it gets boring.
- Cheeky had a separate email, which, I bet, he only used in connection with the site, and Murdoch didn't have anything to say (I'm guessing) between Jan 2021 and August. Ie, Cheeky would check it, and there'd be nothing, repeat, for 6-7 months.
- I don't like to think this, but perhaps this site rising in the search rankings discouraged him, too. When I searched for 'Murdoch Murdoch' (through a proxy - otherwise search engines will 'cater to' you), cheekyvideos.net fell to the 2nd page or further. Once, for a while, this site fell in rank and it made me feel like 'enh, why bother?'. Perhaps Cheeky felt that way. If this is what happened + it contributed to Cheeky departing, I'm sure sorry - I, like everyone else, would have loved an AMA 5 at least.
So, he didn't necessarily become ill or get doxxed - he had a normie-ish subset of his site going, after the 'meme' part was down. But of course, aside from the facts I've put up, it's all speculation.
Regardless:

So, it's no exaggeration to say that we owe Cheeky a huge debt of gratitude.
